Triangle Defense Empty Triangle Defense

Post by Crux Sat Mar 15, 2014 12:02 pm

Hello! Crux here. I plan on sharing my knowledge with you all, so here is my general defense strategy: the Triangle set up.

Concept
This set up is used to minimize your opponent's chance of knocking off multiple Sukoshi at once.

Set Up and Game Progression
First, you set up your first Sukoshi in the center of your side and put two Sukoshi behind it so that the first Sukoshi is the point of a triangle. Then, you put your last two Sukoshi so that if you had six, one could fit between the two to make a complete triangle. This has also been called an Arrow technique, but normally that refers to a Triangle-Line variation.

Now, as more Sukoshi are knocked off or lost, you will need to adjust. If you have four Sukoshi, try to closely mimmic the triangle as before or place on in the back to create a diamond.

If you have three Sukoshi, try to keep a triangle shape.

If you only have two Sukoshi left, try to get them to opposite sides of the table towards the back so it is more difficult for your opponent to hit them.

If you only have one Sukoshi, set it in a corner of the table.

Pros and Cons
Pros include...
...Increasing difficulty for opponent as game goes on.
...Limiting opponent's options.
...Prevention of a loss of multiple Sukoshi.

Cons include...
...Easy target towards beginning.
...Difficulty perfecting.
...Slim chance of opponent knocking off multiple Sukoshi.

Thank you for reading!

Thank you for posting this. This is the first listing for a defense strategy so far, and it seems very well thought out and planned. I hope you will be posting more soon, as I am sure we will all be anticipating more from you!
